Undergraduate College Admissions Advisor
Ivy Link is seeking an experienced college admissions counselor to guide students and families through the college admissions process, as well as manage individual projects relating to college admissions. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in and strategic knowledge of current admissions standards and academic and other offerings, particularly with respect to colleges in the United States. Importantly, Ivy Link has long recognized that each of our students has unique academic and personal qualities that call for custom-tailored solutions and advice. Accordingly, we seek a counselor who values our students individually and can apply bespoke counseling that is inspiring and innovative. This position comes with the potential to grow into more senior roles at Ivy Link.
Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate: (1) superb communication skills, especially in writing and editing; (2) strong aptitude for research and creative problem-solving; (3) attention to detail, coupled with excellent organization and planning abilities; and (4) at minimum, a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
Candidates must also have a minimum of 3 years experience working in at least one of the following areas: (1) an undergraduate admissions office of a selective U.S. college; (2) college counseling office at a selective high school; and/or (3) advising international students or recruited athletes.
Responsibilities
Work directly with students in grades 8 - 12 to craft comprehensive and bespoke admissions strategies
Regularly meet with assigned students and provide progress reports to parents
Coach students through independent projects and extra-curricular development
Mentor students in developing and/or improving executive skills such as organization, research, and time management
Work with students through the brainstorm and editing processes for internship, scholarship, and college application essays
Conduct research to stay current with admissions trends among top U.S. colleges
Assist with the upkeep of admissions-related databases, including but not limited to academic contests and awards, summer programs, and internships
